In Portugal history surrounds us. Everywhere we find ever present monuments time left us, castles that look down on us from magnificent mountains, stone fortresses that defended us… Around every corner History is omnipresent, it is a part of our identity, so when we sell Dom Dinis we are selling a little bit of History… Dom Dinis (1261-1325) was an emblematic king, unforgotten by History, he ordained the planting of 27 acres of pine forest to dry swamps and stop the dunes advance inland by the stubborn Atlantic winds. Two centuries latter the “Pinhal de Leiria” helps launching the foundations to the first modern globalization, (the Portuguese Discoveries), providing wood for shipbuilding our famous “Naus”. This wine is a tribute to history, in a time people tend to forget it. Be good to yourself and to your kin and avoid becoming part of history too soon, drink with moderation. |
